Fisheries Innovation & Sustainability invites Expressions of Interest from qualified applicants to design and test a selective feeding system for use on board commercial vessels fishing Nephrops for the scampi market.
The aim of the system should be to reduce bycatch of small Nephrops and deliver a controlled flow of target size Nephrops via conveyor for onboard automated processing.
Fisheries Innovation & Sustainability (FIS), in partnership with a supply chain-wide coalition of businesses, is exploring how innovation can improve crew conditions, animal welfare, and product quality within the scampi fishery.
A key focus of this work is supporting fishing businesses in assessing the economic viability and practical benefits of integrating new machinery into their operations, enabling more efficient and sustainable practices across the sector.
Eligibility
Expressions of Interest are encouraged from all organisations and businesses capable of generating new knowledge relevant to sustainable UK seafood, without geographical or sectoral restriction.
Deadline
Expressions of Interest are open until 17.00 on Tuesday 30 June 2026.
How to Express Interest
To confirm your interest in this opportunity, please send a short email to FIS Executive Director Kara Brydson at k.brydson@fisorg.uk, who will be available from Monday 22 June to respond to any queries related to this call.
